The nostalgia factor of Kabir Khan's 83 has been boosted with some rousing anthems from Pritam. The composer has tapped into the hype around the film's powerful memories to create compositions that have, so far, ticked the right boxes.
The latest number, 'Sakht Jaan', is another pumping anthem which seeks to rouse Kapil's Devils in the film to stand up and deliver the performance of their lives.
The visuals promise an end-credits bonanza with the World Cup-winning stars of 1983 interspersed with their reel versions. The song follows a montage of scenes of the film's characters (led by Ranveer Singh) mixed with the real deal in black-and-white. While it offers an insight into the work that has gone into replicating the emotion and experience of the tournament, it also seeks to replicate the emotional high of the event.
This is backed by Pritam's composition. The rousing song moves to an anthemic scale with the hook line being the icing. With the guitar rhythms propping up the number, the percussion kicks up the tempo, adding to the emotional feel. The lyrics by Jaideep Sahni revolve around the motto, 'play hard, work hard', with a constant urge to never give in to circumstances. Quite fitting for a sports drama, one would say.
83 features an ensemble cast that includes Pankaj Tripathi, Deepika Padukone, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jatin Sarna, Jiiva, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Sahil Khattar and Dhairya Karwa. The film is set for release in theatres on 24 December. Watch the song below and let us know if you are eager to watch 83.
