Director Jon Watts’s superhero film Spider-Man: No Way Home saw some drop in collections on its first Monday in India. The film made Rs12.25 crore nett on the day, according to the trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The collection is still good given that the Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise (2021), which was also released last week, is doing very well at the box office and vying for viewer attention.

After an excellent opening of Rs32.75 crore nett on Thursday, Spider-Man: No Way Home finished its extended first weekend with a mammoth Rs108 crore. The five-day total of the film is now at Rs120.25 crore, which is fantastic for a foreign movie.

According to BoxOfficeIndia.com, Spider-Man could become the first blockbuster hit after the pandemic if it has a good second weekend. But that may prove tough with Kabir Khan’s eagerly awaited cricket drama 83, with Ranveer Singh heading a multi-star cast, set for release in three days.

Meanwhile, the Hindi dubbed version of Pushpa had a very good first Monday, making Rs4 crore nett, higher than its opening collection of Rs3.30 crore nett on Friday. The trend suggests the film is getting good word-of-mouth publicity in the Hindi market. The total box-office collection of the Hindi version is a little over Rs16 crore now.
