Digpal Lanjekar's Pawankhind postponed to 21 January, will clash with Akshay Kumar's Prithviraj

The historical action drama was earlier scheduled to be released on 31 December 2021.

It will be Maratha versus Rajput at the box office on 21 January 2022. The makers of Digpal Lanjekar's much-awaited historical action drama Pawankhind have decided to postpone its release to 21 January 2022. The film was earlier supposed to be released on 31 December 2021.

This means Pawankhind will now go up against another much-awaited historical epic, Akshay Kumar's Prithviraj (2022). Prithviraj is also scheduled to be released on 21 January 2022.

The makers of Pawankhind announced its new release date with an action-packed teaser. The teaser features Mrinal Kulkarni as a fiery Jijabai ready to save her son Shivaji who is trapped in Panhala fort, besieged by the forces of the Adilshahi general Siddi Jauhar. The minute-and-a-half-long teaser shows that when Shivaji's soldiers were busy fighting for swarajya, their womenfolk were fighting their own battle.

Prajakta Mali also seems to be playing an important role in the film. The teaser also features Chinmay Mandlekar as the Marathi king Shivaji. The rousing background score suits the high-voltage action scenes well.

Pawankhind is the third in Lanjekar's series of 17th century historical films after Farzand (2018) and Fatteshikast (2019). The film has been produced by Almonds Creation and Chintamani Developers.
