Atrangi Re song 'Little Little': Dhanush steps up as a singer in this fun AR Rahman composition

AR Rahman and Irshad Kamil smartly work past Dhanush's Hindi-speaking skills and deliver an immensely hummable track in 'Little Little'. Sung by the actor himself and Hiral Viradia, the song features lyrics by Irshad Kamil.

The strategy seems to have worked with Dhanush's one-lyric delivery hitting the right notes. It is catchy, relatable, and manages to convey the feeling of a man in the spring of love quite well. Irshad Kamil uses his street lingo to capture this atmosphere perfectly. Dhanush is agile and lively, with enough personality to make up for Sara Ali Khan as well. The actor plays the drunk hero charming his new love.

Sara Ali Khan fits in well and has the voice of Viradia to back her up. The singer gets the space to carry off the majority of the Hindi lyrics and does so with elan. Her voice has the melody and timbre to do justice to the composition by AR Rahman. Subtle, simple and definitely fun, the composition seems like a light day's work for the Academy Award winner. The rising tempo and escalation towards the end feel a little odd, but do not stray from the rhythm and energy of the song. 

Atrangi Re has been produced by Colour Yellow Productions and Cape Of Good Films, in association with T-Series.

The film will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on 24 December.
