Filmmaker Anik Dutta has finished shooting for his upcoming film Aparajito. Based on Satyajit Ray’s journey making his maiden film Pather Panchali (1955), the film stars Jeetu Kamal and Saayoni Ghosh.
Dutta posted an update on Facebook with a collage of photos that was captioned, “So it's the end of the roller coaster ride for the cast and crew of Aparajito. Series of crises and roadblocks and stressful moments threatening to jeopardize our shoot, right from the beginning, notwithstanding, we hung on and today we completed the shoot. Successfully or not time will tell. As Ray famously said, “Shooting a film is like going to war.” All we can claim is that we did not run away from the battlefield in extremely hostile situations and put up a valiant fight (sic).”
In the film, Kamal plays the role of Aparajito Ray, who sets out to make his first feature film Pather Podaboli. Ghosh’s character is based on Ray’s wife Bijoya Ray.
Last month, the director created quite a buzz when he shared the first look of Kamal as the character, who bears an uncanny resemblance to the legendary filmmaker.
