The Great Indian Kitchen, PAKA (River Of Blood), The Rapist to be screened at Palm Springs International Film Festival 2022

After this year’s edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 33rd Palm Springs International Film Festival will screen five Indian features — The Great Indian Kitchen, PAKA (River Of Blood), The Rapist, Chhello Show (Last Film Show) and Shankar's Fairies.

Aparna Sen’s The Rapist, starring Konkona Sensharma and Arjun Rampal, will have its North American premiere at the event. The feature had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival where it shared the Kim Jiseok award with the Filipino film Gensan Punch.

The Malayalam films The Great Indian Kitchen and PAKA (River Of Blood) directed by Jeo Baby and Nithin Lukose respectively, are having their US premieres. Pan Nalin's Gujarati film Chhello Show will be screened as part of the Big Screen and Movies Celebrating Movies section.

Irfana Majumdar’s Hindi feature Shankar’s Fairies will be screened as part of the World Cinema Now section.

Palm Springs will open with the documentary Dionne Warwick: Don’t Make Me Over and close with Roger Michell's The Duke. Around 129 films from 70 countries will be screened at this year's edition, and 32 films will be premiered at the festival.

Hollywood stars Kristen Stewart, Penelope Cruz, Jessica Chastain, Andrew Garfield, Jennifer Hudson, Lady Gaga and filmmaker Jane Campion will be honoured at the festival on 6 January 2022. The festival will be held in a physical format from 6 to 17 January 2022
