After a poor first weekend at the box office, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021), starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor, was expected to see a drop in collections on its first Monday and that is exactly what has happened. The film made just Rs1.75 crore nett yesterday, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com.
With this, the Abhishek Kapoor film's total collection at the domestic box office has reached Rs14 crore nett. According to trade sources, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui was made on a budget of about Rs40 crore and seeing the trend it seems set to fall well short of that number.
The Hollywood movie Spider-Man: No Way Home is set for release on Friday and its advance booking has been unprecedented so far. This will only make things tougher for Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui in its second week.
Meanwhile, Ahan Shetty's debut film Tadap (2021) collected Rs3.95 crore nett in the first four days of its second week in theatres, taking its grand total to a decent Rs23.95 crore. The total collection for Antim: The Final Truth (2021), starring Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma, has reached Rs37.21 crore nett. The film is now in its third week.
