83 song 'Bigadne De': Ranveer Singh and the team let loose in this ode to youth

It is easy to forget that the heroes fans worship today were once youngsters. The real-life protagonists of Kabir Khan's 83 may be wisened sextagenarians now, but they were in their 20s when they attained their legendary status. The film seeks to tap into the story of these young men still trying to figure out their place in the world while dealing with their own insecurities, flaws and oddities.
The song's visuals are a montage of clips that underline this youthful energy. Whether it is Ammy Virk's Balvinder Singh Sandhu being made the butt of jokes or Sandeep Patil (Chirag Patil) showing off his juggling skills with the team in a bar, these young men are on the path of learning. This freedom to make mistakes, the song underlines, often leads to magical results.
Ashish Pandit's lyrics capture the sense of abandon and youthfulness but seem to be fairly straight to the point. Vocalist Benny Dayal adds a soulful touch to the composition. Pritam's work reflects the pep of the young brigade, but it lacks the novelty or X factor which usually marks his compositions. The simple rhythm set by the guitar is backed up by the percussion to add bounce to the track. Yet, it feels a bit underdone.
The sports drama has been directed by Kabir Khan and features an ensemble cast, which includes Ranveer Singh, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saquib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Dhairya Karwa, Jiiva, Chirag Patil and Harrdy Sandhu. It will be released in theatres on 24 December.
