Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi are starring in an upcoming film titled Double XL. As the title suggest, the film is based on societal discrimination against large women, delicately described as 'plus size' women, and its impact on them. Helmed by Satram Ramani, who had earlier directed Helmet (2021), the film also features Zaheer Iqbal and Mahat Raghavendra.

Shooting for the film was completed a few days ago and the cast and producers came together recently for a wrap party. The artistes were spotted with director Ramani, producers Bhushan Kumar, Vipul D Shah, Rajesh Bahl and Ashwin Varde, and writer-producer Mudassar Aziz.

Reportedly, in the film,  Sinha and Qureshi will be seen playing plus size women who fight the bullies and body shamers. The actresses will also be seen going through a massive body transformation.

Interestingly, Sachin Kundalkar's Marathi film Vazandar (2016), starring Priya Bapat and Sai Tamhankar, had a similar storyline, where both actresses portrayed plus size women who decide to lose weight after being targeted by body shamers.

Meanwhile, Qureshi will be next seen in Vasan Bala's Monica O My Darling and the Ajith-starrer Tamil film Valimai while Sinha has Aditya Sarpotdar’s Kakuda and Reema Kagti’s untitled web-series in the works.
