Millions of students who wish to appear for medical entrance exams spend day and night studying for the tests, because their future depends on this one result. But what if you could find a simpler solution, a shortcut that will get you closer to your degree without having to put in much hard work?
SonyLIV’s upcoming series The Whistleblower sheds light on a huge scam of medical entrance exams where rich students book admission by paying huge sums of money.
The trailer for the show begins with Ravi Kishan explaining the intricacies of the scam to Ritvik Bhowmik. They have an entire system which helps less talented students become doctors by hiring proxies to appear for medical entrance examinations and supplying forged answer sheets by bribing officials and leaking papers.
This scam seems to involve examiners, students, politicians, the police and bureaucrats. After a slow start, the trailer also throws some light on a group of people who are trying hard to expose this scam. Sonali Kulkarni seems to be leading this sting operation.
The web-series seems to be inspired by the infamous Vyapam scam which took place in Madhya Pradesh and came to light in 2013. It was a huge scandal in government recruitment and entrance examinations for professional courses that shook the country and which saw 1,700 arrests and nearly 50 unnatural and unexplained deaths of witnesses.
The story looks promising and the trailer suggests we are going to get another thrilling, realistic web-series inspired by real-life wrongdoing after Hansal Mehta’s Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020). Also, just like with Scam 1992, it seems the background score and theme music of this series will also become a rage.
