After playing more realistic roles in his recent films, Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran is back in an out-and-out massy role in Shaji Kailas's upcoming film Kaduva (2022).

The teaser for the film, which was released yesterday, wastes no time making its intentions clear. It begins with a signature slow-motion entry of the hero as he steps out of a plush car and thrashes a police officer.

The stylishly shot sequence is aided by Prithviraj's voice-over, where he confesses to a priest that he believes in the Old Testament's rule of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. and not the New Testament.

The teaser makes it pretty obvious that Kaduva will be an old-school commercial entertainer. Malayalam cinema has been leading the surge towards more real and diverse stories in the past two years and so it will be interesting to see if the audience is still open to such action entertainers.

The film has been written by Jinu V Abraham, who had earlier directed Prithviraj in Adam Joan (2017). Apart from Prithviraj, Kaduva stars Vivek Oberoi, Dileesh Pothan, Samyuktha Menon, Aju Varghese and Rahul Madhav.
