The trailer for SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR (2022) was supposed to be released on Friday 3 December. But the makers announced today that it has been postponed on account of ‘unforeseen circumstances’.

After releasing two singles so far, the makers were set to unveil the highly anticipated trailer on Friday.

A tweet from the official handle of the movie read, “Due to unforeseen circumstances we aren’t releasing the RRR trailer on December 3rd. We will announce the new date very soon.”

In RRR, Jr NTR and Ram Charan share screen space for the first time. The film is a fictional tale set in the 1920s in pre-independence India but based on the lives of two real heroes and well-known revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.

“This will be a fictional story on the lives of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem," Rajamouli had said at the film's launch back in 2019. "There are gaps in the lives of these legendary freedom fighters that we don’t know about. We don’t know what happened in these years. It is through this fictional story we would like to show what could have happened in their lives and what would have happened if they had met and bonded.”

The film, which will be dubbed and released in the other Southern languages and Hindi on 7 January 2022, also features Samuthirakani, Shriya Saran, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in important roles.

Earlier this year, the makers released a two-minute-long making video which gave a glimpse into everything that has gone into making the next big epic action film from Indian cinema.

From the sketches of the sets to the massive action set pieces, the video establishes that RRR could be the film to bring audiences back into theatres amidst the pandemic.
