Rinku Rajguru is known for doing romantic and light-hearted roles. But in Sarthak Dasgupta’s hard-hitting crime drama 200: Halla Ho, she will be seen playing a fiery young woman, Asha, who stands up against caste-based oppression.
Asked how she prepared for the role, during the online press conference for the film, Rajguru said, “I didn’t do much myself. I had asked Sarthak sir what kind of girl she is and what does he want. He said, just like me, she is a strong girl. But to play a character there has to be some difference. So we worked on the little things. Asha is a Marathi girl and I am also from a Marathi family. So there was no problem on that front.”
The film is based on the killing of the gangster and mass rapist Bharat Kalicharan aka Ajju Yadav by 200 Dalit women in 2004. His character, called Balli Chaudhary in the film, is played by newcomer Sahil Khattar. Watching him act like a maniac scared Rajguru.
She said. “When I read the script, I realized that the film is about atrocities against women, including rape. At the time, I felt this was good and I should do the film. But when I was doing it and saw some of Sahil's scenes, I got scared. But I also feel that this brought a different type of seriousness in me.”
200: Halla Ho will be released on 20 August on Zee5.
