Actor Arya is beside himself over the success of his latest project, the Tamil period sports drama Sarpatta Parambarai.
"Sarpatta Parambarai is an incredibly special project! Blood, sweat and tears – I gave it my all,” the actor said in a statement. “The overwhelming love and appreciation I am getting from fans not just in India, but across the world make all the effort worthwhile," he added.
Directed by Pa Ranjith, the film was released on 22 July as part of the Prime Day lineup on Amazon Prime Video. The film saw a massive response from the audience and was well appreciated by the critics as well. The film was watched by audiences from over 150 countries and territories within 10 days of its premiere.
Featuring Pasupathy, John Vijay, Santhosh Prathap, John Kokken, Sanchana Natarajan and Dushara Vijayan, the film is set in the 1970s when the boxing clans of Madras had their heyday.
In the film, Kabilan (Arya), who belongs to the Sarpatta clan, is obsessed with boxing and attends every local match. Eventually, he gets a chance to fulfil his dream of becoming a pugilist when he has to trade blows in a match that is crucial for the survival of his clan.
