After a romantic song and a dance number, the makers of Bhuj: The Pride Of India have released the patriotic song 'Desh Mere', which joins the growing list of patriotic tunes created for Hindi cinema, such as AR Rahman’s 'Maa Tujhe Salaam', Roopkumar Rathod and Sonu Nigam’s 'Sandese Aate Hain' and the more recent 'Ae Watan' from Raazi (2018).
This slow and soulful rendition by Arijit Singh strikes the right chord from the first note. Arijit Singh, who has sung patriotic songs before, channels the spirit of unconditional love for one's country. He brings the right degree of patriotic zeal and emotion that can leave you teary-eyed.
Arko Pravo Mukherjee's tender composition, accompanied by the gentle percussion, perfectly meshes with Manoj Muntashir's thought-provoking and rousing lyrics. It is the kind of song that grows on you.
While the song scores highly in the musical department, the accompanying visuals are a disappointment. There are some major spoilers in the video, which features all the main artistes — Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Nora Fatehi, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk and Pranitha Subhash — whose characters are seen putting their lives on the line for their country.
Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, Bhuj: The Pride Of India is set during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Listen to the song below and let us know if you are keen on watching the film.
