Birsa Dasgupta's Mukhosh gets a new release date

The official Bengali remake of the Malayalam film Anjaam Pathiraa (2020) will now be released on 19 August in theatres.

Birsa Dasgupta’s upcoming film Mukhosh, which was initially slated for release on 13 August, has got a new release date — 19 August.

SVF Entertainment made the announcement today by posting a short promo for the film on Twitter.

Cinema halls in West Bengal have finally reopened after the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic with the government allowing them to function at 50% capacity maintaining strict pandemic protocols.

Mukhosh will still be the first Bengali film to have a theatrical release since theatres in the state were shut down on 30 April owing to the worsening pandemic situation.

The visuals in the short promo show CCTV footage of a taxi at a traffic signal while an announcement to keep all checkposts on high alert goes in the background. Within seconds, the signal gets lost and the image of a lamb mask appears, followed by the release date announcement.

Featuring Anirban Bhattacharya, Anirban Chakrabarti, Chandreyee Ghosh and Kaushik Sen, Mukhosh, the official Bengali remake of the Malayalam film Anjaam Pathiraa (2020), tells the story of a psychologically sick criminal who sends clues to his murders wearing a lamb mask. The mask also carries a biblical symbol associated with the criminal’s perspective on death.
