The makers of the upcoming Telugu action-drama Acharya have revealed that the talkie portions of the film have been shot and only two songs are left to be canned.
Directed by Koratala Siva, Acharya is said to star Chiranjeevi in dual roles. The project marks his maiden collaboration with the filmmaker. The film also stars Ram Charan, Kajal Aggarwal and Pooja Hegde.
Acharya, as per reports, will be about a middle-aged Naxalite-turned-social reformer who wages war on government officials over the misappropriation and embezzlement of temple funds and donations.
A still featuring Chiranjeevi and his son Ram Charan has been released by the makers. The father and son duo can be seen twinning and striking a pose in olive fatigues. This is for the first time Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan are coming together in full-fledged roles.
Last August, reports emerged that the story of Acharya was embroiled in a plagiarism row. The makers were quick to quash those reports by releasing a statement.
“We wish to inform everyone that Acharya is an original story written and conceptualized by Koratala Siva alone. Any claims that the said story is a copy is baseless,” read the statement.
“It was only recently, on the occasion of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s birthday on August 22 that the title look poster of Acharya was launched. It gathered great love and support from all sections of society. As the hype reaches its zenith, a couple of writers, have now made false claims with respect to the story of the film,” added the statement.
The makers said they’ve kept the story of the film confidential and only a select few people are aware of what it is all about.
The film originally was supposed to mark Trisha’s return to Telugu filmdom after many years. However, she opted out of the project due to creative differences.
