Paoli Dam and Anirban Bhattacharya will be paired together for the first time in Srijit Mukherji’s multi-starrer film Lawho Gouranger Naam Re.

The film, which features Parambrata Chatterjee as the 15th century saint Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Priyanka Sarkar as Lakshmipriya, will see Dam as a filmmaker and Bhattacharya as an actor.

Dam first worked with Mukherji on Zulfiqar (2016). While speaking to Ei Samay, a Bengali daily from The Times of India group, Mukherji said, “After working with Paoli in Zulfiqar, I realized that it is important to work with actors whom I don’t need to explain much. They come prepared on the sets and hence it becomes easier to invest in other aspects of filmmaking. Paoli is one of this kind.”

Equally excited to work with the director again, Dam said, “I did a cameo in Zulfiqar. This is my first full-fledged role with Srijit. I love the character and I am hoping for a great experience.”

Dam was reportedly approached for the character of Mushkan Zuberi in Mukherji’s upcoming web-series Robindronath Ekhane Kawkhono Khete Aashenni. However, due to her engagement in other projects, Dam couldn’t be a part of it. The character has been essayed by Bangladeshi actress Azmeri Haque Badhon.

Mukherji is yet to announce the rest of the ensemble cast of the film.
