Tunka Tunka becomes first Punjabi film released in theatres after the pandemic second wave

The film marks the acting debut of singer and lyricist Hardeep Grewal.

Punjabi film Tunka Tunka has been released in theatres across Punjab and overseas today.

Starring Hardeep Grewal and Hashneen Chauhan, the film is the story of Fateh Singh Sidhu who dreams of becoming a national-level cyclist. His father is a poor farmer who wants him to study instead. Fateh`s talent is noticed by a professional cycling coach who insists he join the academy for training.

Directed by Garry Khatrao, the film has been written and produced by the popular singer and lyricist Grewal and marks his acting debut as well.

Originally slated to be released in theatres on 16 July, the film has been released today, 5 August, making it the first Punjabi movie to be released in theatres after the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

PVR Cinemas shared an announcement of the release on Twitter, with the two lead artistes requesting fans to watch the film in theatres.

Grewal went through a drastic transformation for his role over the course of three years. He was required to look very weak for a certain section in the film and then slowly regained his weight and became fit enough to portray an athlete.
