Director Hansal Mehta has revealed the title of his upcoming action thriller. The film, Faraaz, will feature Aditya Rawal and Zahaan Kapoor in the lead. The film also marks the first collaboration between Hansal Mehta and close friend and filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, who is on board as the producer of this project.

The 28-second teaser for the film reveals an exploding building with the lower portion of the image revealing a group of five terrorists. The voice-over says, "Insaan jab mazhab ke naam pe maarega na, woh mazhab ko maarega [When humans kill in the name of religion, they kill the religion]."
Mehta's film is based on the 2016 terrorist attack on the Holey Artisan Café in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The attack took place on 1 July 2016 when five terrorists shook Bangladesh by holding 50 people in the upscale café hostage. The resulting 12 hour siege was one of the deadliest attacks in the country and led to the death of 22 hostages, mostly Italian and Japanese nationals.

Faraaz is a joint production of Sinha's Benaras Media Works and Bhushan Kumar's T-Series. The film went on the floor late in June with Mehta sharing pictures from the shoot.
The film also marks the big-screen debuts of Aditya Rawal, Paresh Rawal's son, and Zahaan Kapoor, grandson of the late Shashi Kapoor. Aditya made his acting debut in the direct-to-OTT release Bamfaad (2020), which was premiered on Zee5 in April last year.
For now, Faraaz does not have an official release date. The film has been written by Ritesh Shah, Kashyap Kapoor and Raghav Kakkar.
