Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Karthi's Ponniyin Selvan characters revealed

Mani Ratnam’s upcoming Tamil magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan is easily the biggest casting coup the filmmaker has pulled in his career. With the project on the verge of completion, the film’s character sheet has leaked on social media.

The document basically reveals who plays whom in the highly anticipated project which will be released next year. 

The sheet confirms that Amitabh Bachchan is no longer part of the project and Prakash Raj has been brought in to play his character, Sundara Chozhar. 

Ponniyin Selvan, which is based on a novel by Kalki, tells the story of Arulmozhivarman, one of the kings of the Chola dynasty during the 10th and 11^th centuries.

Vikram plays a character called Aditya Karikalan while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen as Nandini and Mandakini, both of whom are antagonists. 

Jayam Ravi plays Arulmozhi Varman while Karthi and Trisha will be seen as Vandhiyathevan and the Chola princess Kundhavi respectively.

Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sobhita Dhulipala will be seen as Poonguzhali and Vaanathi respectively. 

Sarath Kumar plays the character Periya Paluvetarayar while Parthiban plays his brother Chinna Paluvetarayar. 

The cast also includes actors such as Prabhu, Kishore, Lal, Vikram Prabhu, Ashwin Kakamanu and Jayaram. 

Lyca Productions is bankrolling the project, which features music by AR Rahman.

The film’s title poster was unveiled earlier this year. The film went on the floors in Thailand where a major portion of the movie has been shot.
