Cartel was the first Hindi show I signed up for, reveals Amey Wagh

The ALTBalaji and MX Player web-series sees Wagh play a fiery activist, Dhaval Jadhav.

Amey Wagh in Cartel

Amey Wagh made his Hindi web-series debut with Sacred Games (Season 2). But it was the ALTBalaji and MX Player underworld drama Cartel that was to be his first show in Hindi. Cartel was released earlier this month.

Revealing this to the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), Wagh said, “Cartel was the first Hindi show I signed up for. And it was because of the story, the humongous star cast. Also, to be a part of a show helmed by Balaji Telefilms was a huge deal for someone like me who doesn't hail from the mainstream Hindi space to get this opportunity. Although the show got pushed and wasn't my first Hindi show, the excitement around it is still at its peak.”

Wagh plays the character of Dhaval Jadhav in the show. Jadhav is a fiery activist fighting for the preservation of the Aarey jungle in Mumbai. “Jadhav is someone who believes in the right and goes for it," Wagh said. "So the amount of love [the character] has been receiving is overwhelming. I have got to show the varied shades of my acting through this role.”

Wagh is a popular star in Marathi cinema with films like Muramba (2017), Faster Fene (2017), Girlfriend (2019) and Dhurala (2020) to his credit.
