After releasing the teaser of the tune 'Teri Aankhon Mein' on Friday, the makers of Thalaivii on Monday launched the song, which recreates the magic of South Indian cinema's golden years and the legendary on-screen presence of J Jayalalithaa and MG Ramachandran, played by Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami respectively.
'Teri Aankhon Mein' is a sweet and simple song composed by GV Prakash Kumar which also gives insight into the stars' bond. The song also briefly depicts Jayalalithaa's journey from a teenager who signs on for a movie for Rs250 to a full-fledged superstar.
Ranaut and Swami, who have replicated the dance moves of the 1960s and 1970s on-screen, have made an earnest attempt to highlight the nuances of the music of the era.
Armaan Malik has an incredibly soothing voice and in this song, he delivers his best. Still, the texture of his voice doesn't really match the visuals of Swami. Prajakta Shukre's voice, on the other hand, suits Ranaut well. Shukre has also beautifully incorporated the 1970s style of singing without making it too obvious.
Irshad Kamil's lyrics work in the context of the composition.
Thalaivii is scheduled to be released in theatres on 10 September.
