The story takes place in a hill station named Rudrakund which is as spooky as it is scenic.

The trailer of Voot Select’s Candy divulges more about the plot than the ambiguous teaser, revealing that the show is set at a hill station named Rudrakund in North India.

Although the place appears beautiful from the outside, there is more to it than meets the eye. After an unknown killer brutally murders a student named Mehul, senior cop Ratna Sankhawar (Richa Chadha) is called in. Mehul’s mentor and school teacher (Ronit Roy) also gets involved in the case, which keeps getting murkier.

Both suspect the role of three unruly students who used to bully Mehul regularly. At the same time, the locals believe in the existence of a devil named Masaan who, according to them, killed the boy. The school is also experiencing a drug menace. Some students are consuming drugs via sweets. It is also believed that Masaan kills those who consume drugs this way.

The trailer of Candy is much better than the teaser. It lays down the storyline and introduces characters in an intriguing manner. The setting plays a major role in the mystery.

Roy and Chadha seem to easily slip into the shoes of their respective characters. Manu Rishi Chadha also makes a fleeting appearance as a politician.

Directed by Ashish R Shukla, Candy will be streamed on Voot Select from 8 September.

Watch the trailer and let us know if you are keen on watching the show.
