Audience is hungry for good content: Paresh Rawal on Dear Father

The film marks the veteran's return to Gujarati cinema after a gap of 40 years.

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently returned to Gujarati cinema after 40 years with Umang Vyas’s Dear Father, which also stars Manasi Parekh and Chetan Dhanani.

The film is based on Rawal’s successful Gujarati play of the same name.

The makers have already released the first stills from the film. The most striking picture is one in which Rawal is seen in an animated conversation with the characters of Parekh and Dhanani at a seaside. Parekh is seen noting down the conversation, like an interview.

Another still has Parekh and Dhanani enjoying a lavish meal. The makers have also shared Rawal’s candid moment in between shots with some crew members.

Speaking about the film, Rawal said in a statement, “The audience has been nurtured over the years due to the fantastic theatre scene in Gujarati. And is ready to accept new ideas and hungry for good content [in movies].”

Producer Ratan Jain of Venus added, “The subject of Dear Father has a rare combination of humour and emotion in equal parts and I am very happy to partner Pareshbhai on it.”

The last Gujarati film Rawal did was also the first of his career. Titled Naseeb Ni Balihari, it was released way back in 1982.
