The Delhi state government has appointed actor Sonu Sood as the brand ambassador for its upcoming mentorship programme, Desh Ke Mentor.
Sood joined chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal and deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia at the launch of the programme today.
The programme will help students of Delhi government schools find mentors who can help them 'unlock their potential'. Mentors, like Sood, will be signed on for the programme to help children find answers to career-related questions.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sonu Sood had stepped forward to help many people who reached out to him and was widely recognized for his humanitarian work.
The actor's Sood Charity Foundation has been helping thousands of deserving students achieve their educational and professional goals through financial assistance.
To ensure their continued schooling, the foundation has prioritized financial assistance to children who have lost a parent or guardian in the pandemic.
The actor had also made an appeal to make education free for students in view of the economic havoc wreaked by the pandemic in the lives of several children.
Praising the Delhi government’s work in the field of education, Sood said, “I am impressed by the transformation in Delhi government schools in the past year. High-quality education for all children, whether rich or poor, is the key to a brighter future for the country. We need to come together and do our share for nation building. I urge the youth of India to come be a part of Desh Ke Mentor.”
