Manoj Bajpayee has filed a defamation suit against actor Kamaal R Khan, commonly known as KRK, over a tweet by the latter.

According to the news agency Press Trust of India, the complaint was filed at an Indore judicial magistrate court under section 500 (punishment for defamation) of the Indian Penal Code.

KRK, who is no stranger to controversy, was recently sued by Salman Khan over certain comments in his review of the latter's film, Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai (2021). The Bombay city civil court restrained KRK from commenting on the superstar following the litigation.

The case filed by Bajpayee pertains to a 26 July tweet by KRK, in which he termed The Family Man actor a 'ganjedi, charsi' (drug addict). The tweet is currently unavailable.

The Indian Express newspaper quoted Bajpayee's lawyer, Paresh S Joshi as saying, "Manoj Bajpayee has filed a defamation private criminal complaint against KRK. And in that criminal complaint, his (Manoj’s) statement was also recorded by the honourable court. The next date for hearing is on September 4 (sic)."

KRK has faced multiple suits for his remarks against members of the film industry on social media. Apart from Salman Khan, producers Vashu Bhagnani, Nikhil Dwivedi and actress Richa Chadha have sued him.

Despite the suit, Khan took to social media to defend himself and slam Bajpayee. He also accused members of the film industry of being jealous and obsessed with him.
