Pratik Gandhi’s much-awaited Raavan Leela, the first Hindi film in which he plays the lead, will be released in theatres on 1 October.
The release of the Hardik Gajjar film, which was earlier titled Bhavai, had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Gandhi has played supporting roles in Hindi films such as Mitron (2018) and Loveyatri (2018). But he has become a sought-after name after the success and popularity of his Hindi web-series Scam 1992. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the show was based on the late stockbroker Harshad Mehta.
Presented by Dr Jayantilal Gada of Pen India Limited and produced by Dhaval Jayantilal Gada and Aksshay Jayantilal Gada, Raavan Leela is touted to be a love story starring Gandhi and Aindrita Ray.
The first poster of the film, which is just out, sees Gandhi and Ray’s characters having a romantic time. But what makes this colourful poster interesting is the imposing image of the mythological figure Raavan in the background.
Hemant Kher, who played Gandhi’s brother in Scam 1992, was the acting coach for the upcoming project. The two became close friends while doing Mitron, for which Kher was also the acting coach.
Kher spoke about Raavan Leela and his association with Gandhi in an interview with Cinestaan last October. “There is another film titled Bhavai [old title] where I coached him for a while, not for acting but to explore his character. When I auditioned [for Scam 1992] I was happy to see Pratik on board. We address each other as ‘bhai’,” he said.
