Kalki Koechlin has unveiled the cover of her latest work, a graphic book titled The Elephant in the Womb. Published by Penguin Random House India and illustrated by Valeriya Polyanychko, the book will be available from 27 September.

The actress showed off her labour of love, and her experiences with pregnancy and parenting with the cover reveal. “Here's what I've been up to over the last year and half of lockdown and parenting!” she shared.

The book, which was announced earlier this year on International Mother’s Day in May, will feature essays, think-pieces and journal entries by Koechlin as she captures her journey from being pregnant to giving birth and raising her daughter.

The description of the book also adds that the book will have Koechlin talking about much more than just her own experiences. The actress will open up “about so much that we don’t talk about the social stigma of abortions and unmarried pregnancies, the toll that pregnancy takes on a body, the unacknowledged domestic labour of women, the emotional rollercoaster of giving birth, bouts of postpartum melancholy, the unsolicited parenting advice from every corner, and of course the innumerable moments of joy and delight in bringing a real little person into this very weird world”.

The actress, who was last seen in the Tamil anthology Paava Kadhaigal (2020) on Netflix, recently wrapped the film Goldfish, directed by Pushan Kripalani, with Deepti Naval in London, England.
