The Akshay Kumar-starrer Bell Bottom (2021) earned Rs2.75 crore on its first Friday, doubling its collections from opening day. The film, directed by Ranjit M Tewari, has earned Rs5.50 crore nett, according to the figures by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Bell Bottom, which also stars Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta Bhupathi, Adil Hussain and Huma Qureshi, was released in certain theatres across the country on 19 August. It is the first big Hindi feature to have a theatrical release since cinema halls were reopened this month in some states. The all-important Maharashtra market, including Mumbai, remains shut due to statewide restrictions because of COVID-19.
Bell Bottom has done well in the NCR region and Hyderabad city. The film’s first weekend will be closely monitored; however, restrictions have been put in place in certain states, so the numbers could vary over the weekend.
The film, which is said to have been made on a budget of Rs150 crore, has a long way to go to break even.
