It’s going to be a long wait for Tiger Shroff fans awaiting the release of Ganapath Part 1. The futuristic action thriller, directed by Vikas Bahl, is expected to be released on 23 December 2022.
The big-budget feature also reunites Shroff with Kriti Sanon; the two stars made their debuts together in Heropanti (2014).
Shroff’s next film is Heropanti 2 (2021) which is due to be released on 3 December. Ahmed Khan is directing, while Tara Sutaria has been cast opposite him.
A short teaser video announcing the release date features Shroff advising audiences to 'be ready'. The actor says, "Apun ka do baap hai. God aur janta, dono ne bola aane ko, toh apun aa raha hai [I have two fathers. God and the public, both said to come, so I’m coming]."
The actor seems to be prepping for a fight against the backdrop of a futuristic city resembling Hong Kong or Shanghai. In a statement, Shroff said, “Ganapath has been one of my most ambitious and challenging projects. This one truly is going to challenge me to an extreme level in terms of action as well the idea is to take the bar a lot higher for myself, and Ganapath is just the right vehicle to express a new action for our audiences here.”
Producer Jackky Bhagnani stated Ganapath Part 1 was going to be a landmark film and added he was excited that the film would be premiered two days before his own Christmas birthday.
“During the pandemic, it was tough to conceive a film of this scale and to bring so many people on board but we did it thanks to Vikas!” he said. “The film has great action; it has a strong emotional core that takes it to another level. Tiger's phenomenal energy, discipline and commitment to the film have simply wowed us all.”
Bahl, who is co-producing the film via his banner Good Co, said, “If nervousness and excitement lead to a great final output, then I want a bit more of both. There are a few hurdles given the pandemic situation worldwide but we have a great team and there is immense excitement. Tiger keeps setting the benchmarks for us and Jackky is the adrenaline running in our system.”
The filmmaker helmed his first web-series Sunflower (2021) starring Sunil Grover earlier this year and is also filming Goodbye, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rashmika Mandanna and Neena Gupta.
