Mumbai Diaries 26/11 teaser: Doctors attempt to save the day

Directed by Nikkhil Advani and Nikhil Gonsalves, the series revolves around the experiences of the medical fraternity during the 2008 attack.

Nikkhil Advani and Nikhil Gonsalves's upcoming Amazon Prime series, Mumbai Diaries 26/11, tells the story of the infamous 2008 attack through the eyes of medical professionals who were caught in the crossfire.

The teaser begins with the visuals of a group of doctors, played by Mohit Raina, Konkona Sensharma, Satayajeet Dubey, Mrunmayee Deshpande, who find themselves in the midst of horrific circumstances far beyond their control. The visuals, underlined by sombre voiceovers, make for an impactful watch. The fact that the series arrives amid the COVID-19 pandemic in which the medical fraternity has distinguished itself, adds to the impact.

One of the major flashpoints during the terrorist attack was Cama Hospital in Mumbai. Medical professionals and staff pre-empted the arrival of the terrorists by locking the gates and shutting in patients. It was near the lane of the Cama Hospital that the then-Mumbai police chief Hemant Karkare, along with his officers, Vijay Salaskar, Ashok Kamte and Tukaram Omble lost their lives.

The teaser hints at the clash but does not reveal much about it. With the focus on the medical professionals led by Raina and Sensharma, it promises a new perspective into the incident that has not often been explored on-screen.

The series will also feature Tina Desai and Shreya Dhanwanthary. Backed by Emmay Entertainment, Madhu Bhojwani and Monisha Advani, Mumbai Diaries 26/11 will be streamed from 9 September.
