PS Vinothraj's Koozhangal wins Special Jury Award at TIFF Romania

PS Vinothraj's acclaimed debut Koozhangal (Pebbles) has been awarded the Special Jury Award at the TIFF (Transylvania International Film Festival) Romania 2021. The film is backed by Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivn's Rowdy Pictures, which shared the news on Sunday. 

The film won the Rotterdam Tiger Award at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in February this year.

Koozhangal tells the story of an impoverished father and son. Led by newcomers, the film features music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. 

The TIFF Romania jury included Cannes award-winning writer-filmmaker Guillermo Arriaga, head of Cannes Film Festival Christian Jeune, actor-director Scott Coffey, Romanian actress Maria Popistau and producer Katriel Schory.  

Koozhangal is Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivn's second production. Rowdy Pictures also has Netrikann, led by Nayanthara, lined up for release.
