Bell Bottom song 'Tum Aaogey': Amaal and Armaan's emotional finish to Akshay Kumar's mission

Composed by Amaal Mallik with lyrics by Rashmi Virag, the song has been rendered by the brothers.

Shriram Iyengar

Akshay Kumar has a habit of capping his deadly missions with emotional songs. The latest instance arrives in Ranjit M Tewari's Bell Bottom (2021), which will have Amaal Mallik's 'Tum Aaogey' to add a heartbreaking memory. Sung by Amaal and his brother Armaan Malik, the song has lyrics by Rashmi Virag.

Visually, the song's cues are set to the return of Akshay Kumar's spy team after completing the mission successfully. The spoiler alert aside, the song has visual similarities to another Akshay Kumar drama, Airlift (2016), with the fluttering Tricolour a strong reminder.

The composition by Amaal Mallik is soulful and hits the right emotional notes. It begins with a slow, moving melody before rising to an emotional pitch. Both brothers manage to hold the tone well to act as each other's foil. While they are no KK, their vocals are on point.

The lyrics by Rashmi Virag hold the song together. The sense of longing among the family, waiting uncertainly for the return, is moving. With visuals adding to the context, the song hits home with its melodrama.

Bell Bottom is set to be released in theatres across India (with the exception of Maharashtra) tomorrow, 19 August.
