Atanu Ghosh’s upcoming film Binisutoy tells the story of two strangers who cross each other’s paths and subsequently experience a series of extraordinary events.
Starring Ritwick Chakraborty and Jaya Ahsan, Binisutoy is the third film in Ghosh’s trilogy themed on self-discovery after Mayurakshi (2017) and Robibaar (2019).
The trailer sees the characters Kajal (Chakraborty) and Srabani (Ahsan) come together in order to avail themselves of an opportunity to win Rs50 lakh.
The trailer doesn’t seem to reveal much regarding their storyline. Srabani is married but it seems that fulfilling the dreams of her daughter is her sole motivation. Kajal, on the other hand, seems to be beguiled by quite his fiancé Antara. He often quotes her and discusses her ideas but is afraid of sharing the incident that has pushed him to try his luck and win the prize money.
There are also snippets from both Kajal and Srabani’s daily lives that generate intrigue. While Kajal introduces himself as an employee at a kitchen chimney company he appears to be working at a construction site, Srabani can be seen in completely different avatars in various scenes.
The background song by Iman Chakraborty hints at the central theme of the film that sets the two characters on an inward quest.
Binisutoy is slated to be released theatrically on 20 August.
