Mahesh Manjrekar to helm women-centric film White; see poster

Producers Sandeep Singh and Raaj Shaandilyaa have announced that Mahesh Manjrekar’s next project is a women-centric Hindi movie titled White. The is the second time the filmmaker will be tackling such a film after Astitva (2000).

Manjrekar, who turned 63 today, said that White has been a dream project for him. “I have been living with this story for almost a decade and now finally White got its colour when these two passionate filmmakers Sandeep and Raaj joined me in making my dream project. I am excited with their belief in me and I can’t wait to begin giving White its true colour (sic),” he said in a statement. 

The makers have also shared the first poster of the movie where a woman draped in a white saree is seen stepping into the sea. Going by her attire, it seems the film will be based on a widow. 

Singh said, “The distance between dreams and reality is action. I took one today by joining the hands with Mahesh. I never stop dreaming and neither does Mahesh. Happy to be a part of his dream and journey.” 

Speaking about his association with Singh and Manjrekar and the effect the story had on him, Shaandilyaa added, “Sandeep and I have always been looking for an opportunity to create great cinema together and tell untold stories to the world. Today I feel extremely blessed that we are finally coming together along with visionary director Mahesh Manjrekar. I was really taken aback when I heard the script and I am sure through this story people will see different colours of Mahesh in White.”

The makers are aiming to release White next Dussehra.
