On the occasion of India’s 75th Independence Day, which was yesterday, SonyLIV released the teaser of its keenly awaited web-series Rocket Boys, which is based on the lives of scientists Homi Bhabha (Jim Sarbh) and Vikram Sarabhai (Ishwak Singh), who carried out pioneering work in the fields of nuclear physics and space research respectively.
The teaser sees Bhabha and Sarabhai and their family and close friends listening to India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s famous speech at the stroke of midnight on 15 August 1947 when India achieved freedom.
The two young men are also seen having a conversation on how the coming generations would thrive in an independent India.
There is a high degree of sincerity in the teaser, and the manner in which it’s shot and presented instantly grabs your attention. The production design and the performances of Sarbh and Singh also send out positive vibes about the show. The teaser also gives the impression that the show will seek to evoke patriotic sentiments subtly.
Rocket Boys marks the directorial debut of Abhay Pannu. He was the associate director in Marjaavaan (2019) and an assistant director on the shows Yeh Meri Family and Kaushiki (Season 1).
Rocket Boys is produced by Roy Kapur Films and Nikkhil Advani’s Emmay Entertainment.
