Sashi Kiran Tikka's multi-lingual biopic on Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan is now entering the final schedule of shooting.
The film, initally scheduled for release in July 2021, ran into delays on account of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, it has returned to the floor with Adivi Sesh in the titular role.
The makers put out an announcement of the final schedule in the Independence Day week. The picture captures Adivi Sesh as the young army cadet Sandeep Unnikrishnan.
The film is expected to complete its final schedule by the end of August. Incidentally, the description on the post added, 'Eager to bring this to you. In theaters only. Only when it’s safe', confirming a theatrical release plan.
Expressing his thoughts on the return to shooting, actor Adivi Sesh said, "Major is my passion project. My journey with the film began years ago when I first witnessed the tragic incident in the news. Now, as we are inching closer to wrapping the film, I am overwhelmed with mixed emotions. I am extremely grateful to the family of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan for deeming me fit to play the role of their brave son and I hope we succeed in paying a tribute to the inspirational life of our beloved martyr."
The biopic is based on the life of Sandeep Unnikrishnan who was killed while leading operations against Pakistani terrorists during the infamous 26/11 attack on Mumbai in 2008.
The multi-lingual film also features Sobhita Dhulipala and Saiee Manjrekar and will be released in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam.
Backed by Sony Pictures Films India in association with Mahesh Babu's GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies, Major is expected to be ready for release later this year.
