Dev Adhikari and Rukmini Maitra have begun shooting for their upcoming film Kishmish, which is being directed by Rahool Mukherjee, in Kolkata.
Produced by Adhikari's Dev Entertainment Ventures, the romantic comedy features Kharaj Mukherjee, Kamaleswar Mukherjee and Anjana Basu.
The producers announced the development on Wednesday via a promotional poster on social media.
Kishmish will tell stories from three different timelines. “We will feature the 1980s, 2014 and a futuristic era not affected by the pandemic,” said the director while speaking to Anandaplus, the entertainment supplement of the Bengali daily Anandabazar Patrika. In the colourful poster, the lead actors can be seen in different avatars while sitting in a taxi.
Adhikari feels that it is important to give the audience a thoroughly entertaining experience in these trying times. “All of us are affected by the pandemic, some way or the other. The audience now wants to have an enjoyable experience in the theatre. The film has good songs and dance numbers as well as relatable emotional elements. We did not alter the screenplay despite the delay in making the film,” said the actor-turned-producer.
Maitra stated that she and Adhikari, her real-life partner, have always explored new personalities while portraying various characters and that this project is no different.
Adhikari said, "Despite our long friendship, it still feels funny whenever we deliver romantic dialogues."
The producers have confirmed that the film will be released this winter.
