Kareena Kapoor Khan to lead and produce Hansal Mehta's next thriller

The film, to be co-produced by Ekta Kapoor, will mark Mehta's first project with a major star. It will also be Kapoor Khan's first project since the birth of her second son.

Kareena Kapoor Khan has announced her first major project after completing shooting for Laal Singh Chaddha (2021) and giving birth to her second child, Jehangir.

The actress will feature in and produce director Hansal Mehta's next venture. The film will also be co-produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures.

The film, which is yet to be titled, will mark several firsts, including the collaboration between Kapoor Khan and Mehta. The duo have never worked together before.

The film also marks Mehta's first project with a major commercial star. It will also be Kapoor Khan's first project since the birth of her second son.

Speaking to the tabloid Mid-Day, the actress said, "I am honoured to be working as a producer on this film with Ekta. I am a huge fan of Hansal's movies, and to work with him for the first time will be special."

Mehta is currently in the final stages of completing his thriller Faraaz. He will also be helming the Kartik Aaryan-led Captain India.

The newspaper quoted the director as saying, "Our aim is to create a gripping and moody thriller with Kareena Kapoor playing a character that I hope will do justice to her talent as an actor."

The actress is currently awaiting the release of the Aamir Khan-led Laal Singh Chaddha. The film, which has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, is currently in post-production.
