The filmmaker is, naturally, delighted. "I just couldn't express my happiness in words. I got teary-eyed and remembered everyone who worked with us on Bardo. Finally, our dream of winning the National award came true. You have to lose something to gain something. It's a bittersweet moment for me. I'm quite happy that we won the award but also it saddens me that our main assistant art director Nilesh More and actor Kunal Bane are not with us to experience these joyous moments," he said.

Bardo also marks the maiden production venture of music composer duo Rohan-Rohan. Speaking about receiving the honour, they said in a statement, "We can't believe that Bardo has won two National awards. This is our first film as a producer and to win National awards was the icing on the cake. Savaniee Ravindrra winning Best Playback Singer was especially a dream come true for us."

Bardo tells the story of two cousins who want to win a swimming competition and the hardship they have to endure to realize their dream.
