The Viral Fever's success with Kota Factory, which focuses on students who live in a coaching class hub, has put the platform's writers on a unique and interesting path. The TVF team has now come up with a series that tackles a similar subject: the lives of aspiring civil servants across the country.
Titled Aspirants, the series has been directed by Apoorv Singh Karki and features Naveen Kasturia, Shivankit Singh Parihar and Abilash Thapliyal, among others.
The trailer delves into the perspective of a youth played by Naveen Kasturia. Even as the determined pupil cuts himself off from his family and moves to Delhi's famed Rajinder Nagar Colony in order to clear the Union Public Service Commission examination, a voiceover highlights the constant fear and insecurity such students go through.
The trailer is a sincere attempt at depicting the reality of UPSC aspirants. But it feels too similar to Kota Factory and thus a bit cliched. However, the actors are quite good, with Kasturia looking the part as a nerdy, shy man who lacks confidence, a state of mind that is essential for clearing the daunting examination.
Aspirants is being streamed on YouTube. Check out the trailer and let us know if you are keen on watching the show.
