The Ramayana, one of the major Indian epics, is a tale of love, devotion, sacrifice and revenge. This marvellous story has been brought to life in plays, musical dramas, films and TV serials. And now, Kunal Kolhi is set to showcase his visual interpretation of this magnum opus with the MX Player Original Series Ramyug.

The trailer of the web-series gives glimpses of the grandeur and epicness of the mythological show.

It seems the show has a lot of VFX, and this is where things get a little sketchy. The poor effects tend to stick out if you are someone who is exposed to international fantasy shows. This is one of the first mythological web-series in India to be produced on such a large scale. Also, it seems, not much thought has gone into the costumes and set design. Despite these negatives, the war sequences stand out. It will be interesting to see how the climactic war scenes are executed.

The series has an ensemble cast, comprising Diganth Manchale, Akshay Dogra, Aishwarya Ojha, Kabir Duhan Singh, Vivan Bhatena, Navdeep Pallapolu, Anish John Kokken, Shishir Mohan Sharma, Jatin Sial, Shweta Gulati, Suparna Marwah, Mamta Verma, Tisca Chopra, Dalip Tahil, Anup Soni, Vikram Singh Chauhan, Hemant Kumar Pandey, Arun Singh, Ravi Jhankal, Shaan Grover, Amit Madan Gaur, Teena Singh and Danish Akhtar.

All episodes of this series will be released on 6 May on MX Player.
