The Marathi film Karkhanisanchi Waari, Ivan Ayr’s next Meel Patthar, and the award-winning festival films Koozhangal and Laila Aur Satt Geet have all been selected for screening at the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival in China.

The Indian films have all been on the festival circuit for a while and will be shown as part of the festival's International section.

Meel Patthar is due to have its digital premiere on Netflix on 7 May.

The Chinese festival is also planning a tribute to music composer Ennio Morricone — who died on 6 July last year aged 91, of injuries suffered in a fall, in Rome, Italy — and will screen Sergio Leone's classic 'spaghetti' Westerns A Fistful Of Dollars (1964), The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (1966) and Once Upon A Time In The West (1968) which feature the maestro's unforgettable scores.

Hungarian filmmaker Miklós Jancsó's films like Cantata (1963), The Round-Up (1966) and Silence And Cry (1968) will also be showcased at the festival.

The festival, which be held from 11–20 June, will also focus on films from Italy with features such as Anna Rosenberg (2021), Sanremo (2020) and Gomorrah: New Edition (2008).
