The makers of the film, YNOT Studios and Reliance Entertainment, had initially hoped to release the action film in theatres but now the project will have its worldwide digital premiere in June.
Dhanush, who is currently in California, United States shooting for his Hollywood film The Gray Man, plays a nomadic gangster, Suruli, who has to choose between good and evil in the thriller. Jagame Thandhiram also stars Aishwarya Lekshmi, Kalaiyarasan, Joju George and Scottish actor James Cosmo who is known for his work on the popular HBO series Games of Thrones.
Santhosh Narayanan has provided the music for Jagame Thandhiram.
Talking about the collaboration with Dhanush, Karthik said, “Jagame Thandhiram is my dream film that was made with the ambition of telling a gripping story about a globally prevalent issue through a locally rooted character in a most interesting and entertaining way. Audiences will yet again see Dhanush bring his immense talent and entertainment to the table across 190 countries on Netflix.”
The action film has been shot in London, England and was originally due to be released last year before the makers announced its digital premiere this February.
