Both Mahanta and Badree were in the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Speaking to the Bombay Times, Mahanta said, “It’s been a decade since we've known each other. Badree is from South India and the South is very special to me as I started my film career there. I am fortunate to receive warm recognition with my very first Tamil film Vazhakku Enn 18/9 (2013). And coincidentally now I have found the love of my life in Chennai itself. I feel extremely blessed to find my life partner from among my FTII batch-mates.”

She added, “We first met in FTII Pune in 2007 and it’s been quite an exciting journey for us. We are fortunate to belong to the same field which strengthens our bond.”
