The latest song from the Salman Khan and Disha Patani-starrer Radhe, sung by Kamaal Khan and Iulia Vantur and composed by Devi Sri Prasad, is the epitome of cringe, to use a phrase popular with millennials. In fact, 'Seeti Maar' should be added to the dictionary as a synonym for cringe-inducing.
The song is a typical Salman Khan dance number, where most of the complicated choreography is carried out by the heroine, and Khan as usual is given an embarrassingly awkward signature step. Patani is a great dancer and has displayed her virtuosity in many other songs, but her talent is completely wasted here. Khan looks stiff and tries to hide his lack of flexibility behind unusual dance steps.
The picturization and the choreography of the song lack novelty which is a big surprise, considering Prabhu Deva is helming the film.
The song is an upgraded version of the composer DSP's equally bad Telugu track from the film DJ Duvvada Jagannadham (2017). In the original song, at least we had Allu Arjun showing off his dancing skills to distract us from the mediocre tune, but this is missing in the Hindi version. Shabbir Ahmed's lyrics also don't provide any respite, in fact, they are also equally bad.
One hopes that the rest of the album is better than this. Radhe will be released simultaneously in theatres and on the pay-per-view platform ZeePlex on 13 May.
