In the upcoming family film Sardar Ka Grandson (2021), Arjun Kapoor plays the titular character, Amreek Singh, whose close relationship with his grandmother ‘Sardar’ Rupinder Kaur (Neena Gupta) drives him to move her Lahore home to Amritsar, where she now lives.

Rakul Preet Singh plays Radha, Amreek’s love interest, a sensible, quiet young woman who accompanies him on this crazy journey.
Singh, who is also known for her work in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, spoke about her fun experience driving the truck that brings Sardar’s home ‘Gently Gently’ over the border.
She said, “I personally like driving a lot and the entire process was a lot more fun than one could have imagined. As they say, driving a truck is not easy, but I was able to take it on confidently. We had a truck driver on set to train us how to manoeuvre the big truck which helped me pull it off.”
The actress added that the crew members were taken aback to see her driving the truck better than her co-star Kapoor and even the truck’s owner. “On the set, people were surprised with my driving skills, once you watch the movie you will understand it better. It was like a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me,” she said, stating that she could effortlessly reverse the vehicle during the take.
Directed by Kaashvie Nair, Sardar Ka Grandson also stars Kanlwajit Singh, John Abraham, Aditi Rao Hydari and Kumud Mishra. The family entertainer is due to be released on 18 May.
