Ajay Devgn to make digital debut with Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness

The show also marks the maiden OTT foray of Ventilator (2016) director Rajesh Mapuskar.

Ajay Devgn is all set to make his digital debut with the web-series Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness. An adaptation of the British psychological crime drama Luther, the show is being produced by Applause Entertainment in association with BBC Studios. The show, which is set in Mumbai, will be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar.

Rudra will be helmed by Rajesh Mapuskar. This will be the maiden digital foray of the filmmaker whose last film was the Marathi-language comedy-drama Ventilator (2016)

The motion poster of the web-series shows the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link behind an intense and brooding Devgn. The actor has played a police officer in two films that are poles apart: the hard-hitting drama Gangaajal (2003) and action blockbuster Singham (2011).

Speaking about the show, Sameer Nair, CEO of Applause Entertainment, said in a statement, “Rudra: The Edge of Darkness is one of our biggest shows to date and we are very excited to have Ajay Devgn play the lead. He truly has the fiery intensity and persona required to play this iconic character. With Disney+ Hotstar VIP we have built a strong foundation and are looking forward to creating this global series. We work very closely with BBC Studios to bring the best stories to Indian audiences and Rudra is a brilliant reimagination of an iconic global format.”
