There have been reports of a tiff between the actor and Karan Johar's production house.

Earlier today some reports suggested that Kartik Aaryan had been dropped from the Dharma Productions film Dostana 2 following 'creative differences'.
Now, Karan Johar's production house has confirmed in an official note that the actor is no longer part of the film and that it wishes to keep a 'dignified silence' on the matter.

The note read, 'Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence, we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D'Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon.'
Kartik Aaryan was reported to have shot for 20 days for the film and the Dharma team will have to re-shoot those portions. But so far nothing has been said about this. Aaryan, too, has not reacted to the controversy yet.
The film, which is supposed to be a sequel of sorts to Dostana (2008) starring Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra, went on the floor in 2019, with Janhvi Kapoor as the leading lady. While Dostana was helmed by Tarun Mansukhani, Dostana 2 is being directed by Collin D’Cunha.
Meanwhile, Aaryan recently completed shooting for Ram Madhvani's thriller Dhamaka (2021), which will be premiered directly on Netflix. He will also be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2021) opposite Kiara Advani.
